We are Nicky and Eddie Butcher, founders and owners of DUC London and Beau Déchets (BOW-du-SHAY).
Led by Eddie, our upholster and lead creative, DUC London makes uniquely gorgeous furniture through traditional and contemporary know-how. A natural part of the upholstery process is that when the fabric is cut there are small sections that are typically thrown away, which sadly means they end up in landfill. This inspired us to start making use of those 'off-cuts'.
French for ‘beautiful waste’, Beau Déchets is our solution to the problem of fabric waste, by giving stunning, quality fabrics a new lease of life as bespoke, handmade bags. It’s all about creating something beautiful and useful while reducing our impact on the planet.
Each one is created from ends of rolls, off-cuts or sourced secondhand and vintage materials. Each bag is handmade by employing timeless craftsmanship techniques. The only new components we add are things like zips, straps and lining.
Using fabric waste means all of our bags are either very limited editions or complete one offs. Visit our shop today to get yourself something that is truly very few of a kind.
